Battle Ground 10/24 Mental Health Resources

In the final section of our show yesterday, we mentioned a variety of mental health resources that both Georgia Tech students and non-students alike could use in case that they needed to use them. Below is the list of resources (with links and phone numbers) mentioned in yesterday’s show.

  • The Georgia Tech Victim-Survivor Advocates are available to speak with students confidentially and are located at Stamps Health Services and Smithgall Student Services (Flag Building).
  • Already mentioned. The Georgia Crisis & Access Line is staffed with professional social workers and counselors 24 hours per day, every day to assist those with urgent and emergency needs. (1-800-715-4225)
  • National Hopeline: If you need to speak with someone right now their number is 1.800.442.HOPE (1.800. 442.4673).
  • The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • The Trevor Project Hotline: Our trained counselors are here to support you 24/7. If you are a person in crisis, feeling suicidal, or in need of a safe and judgment-free place to talk, the Trevor Lifeline can be reached at 866-488-7386.
  • Crisis Text Line: text “start” to 741-741
  • The Georgia Tech Counseling Center  is staffed by psychologists and mental health counselors. They offer brief, confidential counseling and crisis intervention services to students. The Counseling Center also offers an after-hours on-call counselor to speak and consult with students in crisis. In addition, they sponsor a series of workshops for managing stress.
  • Stamps Health Services  is open to students and their spouses. Students interested in scheduling an appointment may call 404-894-2585 or visit the second floor of the Stamps Health Services Building.
  • Division of Student Life and the Office of the Vice President and Dean of Students has a referral option if you are concerned about a student.
  • Georgia Tech has contracted with EAP Consultants, LLC to provide employees and their family members with a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program (EAP). All healthcare benefits eligible employees and their families have access to the program.
  • Ga Tech Counseling, Let’s Talk: “This service is open to all Georgia Tech undergraduate and graduate students. It is a valuable and appropriate service for students who may be unsure about formal counseling, have a specific problem and would like someone with whom to talk it through, have a concern about a friend and want some thoughts about what to do, or students who are not interested in ongoing counseling but would like the perspective of a counselor.”
  • Peer Coaching at Georgia Tech
